We just got back from our 2nd trip to Charlotte.

Our plan is to move here in summer, in September my daughter will go to college, most likely CPCC. We looked at apartments in Regency and Strawberry Hill, and liked both, so probably will live in one of those until we buy a house or condo.

Safety is my main concern- (I know it sounds silly considering we are moving from Brooklyn, NY) - but everything is familiar here, and I don't worry about her taking subway daily. Once we move to Charlotte, she will have to take bus (14 or 15) to CPCC and back. Is it safe? Should I consider buying a car for her instead? Does anyone know apartment comlexes within walking distance of central campus of CPCC? We are looking to spend around $900 for 2BD.

Also, how long does it take to get to Uptown from Fairview Rd via Providence Rd in rush hour?

I will probably have million more question before we actually move, thank you for your patience!

Public transport here is pretty safe, but Charlotte is still spread out. A vehicle here is almost a necessity. There are several routes to take from Fairview into uptown and Providence would probably be the most congested.

She will be fine on bus 14 and bus 15 they both go thru Charlotte better neighborhoods.
Bus 14 has a longer route than bus 15 so it may have more people than the other bus but it may run more frequent. Bus 15 shorter route but probably bus times are less.
It kinda of catch 22.

All buses have security cameras and occasional officer riding the bus.
I would also suggest to save a little more $$ is to get a monthly pass.
Most of the buses have bike racks so if she needs to bike to a bus stop, she can.
CPCC has bike racks as well.
