The Charlotte area's 2nd Whole Foods has opened on Sam Furr Rd in Huntersville as of Nov 4th. This is Exit 25 on I-77.
Of course anyone who drives into that mad house traffic congestion might not be seen again for days. Like the Publix that opened near there a couple of weeks ago, the place is swamped well past capacity.
(Technically they opened on Saturday & Sunday for a "sneak peek" but that cost $5 to get in. Imagine people paying to go into a grocery store.)
I paid the $5, it went to charity and it was a fun event. I have been there now to shop. They have great produce and meat. Will I leave Harris Teeter? probably not for a lot of staple items but I love all of the choices that Huntersville now has for shopping
The best deal at Whole Foods is the hot bar for a casual dinner with some wine. Otherwise the only brands with any competitive pricing is the 365 house brand.
For certain items Whole Foods is good, but for the staples, you are going to pay 10-20% more.
Yeah, I am waiting for couple weeks to go check it out. I liked the one in SouthPark but it was a long drive for me, this is a close and I am sure I will go there for specific items that I can't get other places. I don't think I will drop my other stores, Aldi, HT, BJs.. each one has it's perks. I am just happy to have all these stores close to each other, it's helps keeping the prices in check.

Yeah, I dont think Whole Foods is trying to be a price leader at all. They've got a niche and it's upping that continuum of food shopping. Good for them though as there are people that will pay the higher prices. I'll stop in and check out the new store sometime early one weekend morning before the majority of the town is awake and sitting on 73. haha
There are a bunch of articles and stuff talking about how they're trying to be more competitive on price, but as Suncc said it's usually on their store brand. But for you health nuts, make sure to check the labels on there because it seems like Whole Foods holds national brands to a higher standard than their store brand.
I find the deals in the bulk section. I love getting exactly how much I need and it's priced really well. Especially the flours and rice. I go to Earth Fare as well for that.
I went to this store today. First time in a Whole Foods. I don't get it.
I didn't see anything in there that you can't get a Earth Fare, Natural Foods, or that place in Davidson or even HT or Publix these days except their prices were eye watering. And maybe I saw it wrong but they were charging a flabberghasting $9 for a hamburger at that "hamburger bar" which was just some fat guy frying patties on a regular grill.
I was going to buy some grapes but they were old so I didn't get them. In fact it had been a while since a lot of that produce had been in the ground.
