Afternoon All

I am seriously considering a transfer to my Charlotte office....but will only make the move if the area and surrounding areas are safe, clean, not over populated and not desolate either. I am also interested in good/great school districts and safe schools.
If anyone would be able to shed some light on this for me pls let me know. Also, if you would be able to tell me approx time wise, the drive would be from such areas to Charlotte that would be greatly appreciated!!!
Some family and I are looking to visit for the Holidays and will wing it as we get there. It would be great help if I had some info.

Have a great day

Where you will be working in Charlotte is a BIG consideration. Charlotte's a huge city area-wise. There are plenty of very nice suburbs that's safe, affordable with great schools (Concord/Harrisburg to the NE, Mooresville/Troutman to the north, Ft. Mill/Lake Wylie to the south). Good luck in your search!!!

Thanks so much for the info. I thought possibly Kannapolis, Mathews...Hunterville?? not sure as my major concerns are the areas and the schools and of course $$$$...It will be just my child and I (with extended family to follow) I am a tad bit apprehensive.
I will look into your suggestions..again your info was greatly appreciated!!

Kannapolis is the next town over from Concord here in Cabarrus County. The taxes here are low.

Hi Mimmi,
We relocated in 1998 to south Charlotte -- now we live in Union County. It was (and still is!) a welcome change from the northeast. Let me know if I can help in any way

Post Crime and Schools Info

Hi Mimmi,
I just visited Charlotte last weekend and loved it. It was so easy to drive around too. With a rental car and a good map, you'll be able to "wing it". I didn't want to move, but now I can't wait to do so. Here's a website that gives you crime information on Charlotte, since safety is a concern. http://maps.cmpdweb.org/cmpdnet/agreement.aspx (broken link)
You can also check out the Charlotte-Mecklenberg School district website for school information. http://www.cms.k12.nc.us/index.asp (broken link)
My family and I are looking to move to Matthews.
Good Luck in your search for a new place to call home!
