As I drove through MintHill I noticed the front of the buildings are facing away from the main street that goes through the middle of the little town. The delivery/back entrances are facing the street.
Where on that video are the buildings in question?
I believe the OP is referring to MintHill Commons. (Anchored by Publix) They start to appear on the left at the 1:37 mark. They are the 3 buildings shown up until the 1:54 mark. The cutoff is Brighton Park Drive.
The next building after the Brighton Park Drive cross street / intersection, on the left, is the RX Care Pharmacy building (The 4th)
And no, I have no idea why they situated them the way they did.
Lots of development is built that way. Bring the buildings close to the street, put parking behind it, with the front of most stores facing the parking. That way we don't have to ride by miles of parking lots.

This is a good inquiry of Matthews-Mint Hill Road. Continued development should initiate transportation improvements inclusive of widening North Carolina Highway 51 to four lanes and adding bicycle lanes.

Don't think there's room for that by the HT/Publix...
OP, I noticed in the beginning of the video you said "this all is the same." I don't think that's entirely true as I'm pretty sure the sidewalk on the right hand side in the beginning of the video is relatively new and continues all the way throughout the video. I know that's not much but it's more than some other areas can say. I believe they were also working on (maybe even done now?) continuing it all the way into Matthews town limits.

I'm not sure the OP has ever said anything positive about where he lives. It seems like a miserable way to live, but to each their own.
