I intend to go to a film festival event at McGlohan theater. I do not live in Charlotte, but outside of it and one thing I'm wary of about going to places in Uptown Charlotte area is the whole parking place thing. In my smaller city, you typically can park in a parking lot of whatever place you are going to, but Charlotte is obviously different in some cases.

If anyone is familiar with this theater, please let me know what would be the best parking place or parking deck to look for that isn't far from it. Thank you.

From their website:

A special preferred parking rate of only $5* is available for our patrons in our designated garage.

7th Street Station Parking Garage
Enter on 6th or 7th Streets between N. College and N. Brevard Streets.

*The $5 rate is applicable when parked in the garage after 5pm on weekdays, Mon – Fri. If parked in the garage before 5pm, the $5 rate is void. There is no time restriction for the weekend, Sat & Sun.

GETTING AND USING YOUR PARKING PASS WHEN YOU ARRIVE

Pull the garage entry ticket when you arrive at the designated garage. You will need this to exit!
Purchase a $5 Blumenthal exit pass at the theater or click here to purchase in advance online. If you would rather purchase by phone, please call 704.335.1010*
WHEN YOU EXIT

Insert your garage entry ticket into the yellow slot. Amount due will display on the screen.
Insert your Blumenthal exit pass in the same yellow slot, with arrow pointing at slot.
Gate arm will rise and screen will display “drive safely.”
*Pre-paid parking is not available day of show.

Another option if you are coming from the South, is to hop on the light rail and take it to the 7th street stop. $2.20 for a round trip and parking at the stops is free.

And that stop is at the 7th Street Station Parking Deck. Get it? Station?

All a safe place to be for shows and just a block's walk.

Thanks! I did that tonight, even though the cost was $4 something, but it's cool. Still beats paying $5 or more for a parking spot.

And thanks to everyone else who replied as well.
