Hello all!

I plan on relocating to Charlotte within the next several months. My question is two pronged. Firstly, I would like to know which areas to avoid on a personal level? I'm just getting to rent an apartment for the first year to get a feel for the city, so I don't need the best neighborhoods, but I would like to know which ones would you avoid like the plague? I am in my 20's, without children.

The second part of my question is I will be opening a store as well. This question can be answered the same as above, but I would also like to know which areas would you recommend for a new business? Which areas have a lot of traffic flow, busy, and money is ample?

Thank you to everyone reading this. I hope to be a positive addition to this forum and to Charlotte.

It all depends on how much rent you wish to pay and what would you like out of your community. There are some really bad areas and some wonderful ones. What is your business? I will be glad to answer if you private message me. On this board, people are touchy. If you say something truthful, it is easy to be labeled as a racist, biased or some other BS. I know the city very well. Contact me.

Hi, I am moving to Charlotte this summer! I am looking at apartments in East Charlotte. I know this isn't the best of best Charlotte has to offer but I've done some research and for the price, the area seems rather good. I would be interested to hear what some others have to say as I will be living alone.

OP, as far as the business, if you are looking for a large population of people with money to spend, the most likely answers will be South Charlotte or the Lake Norman area (Cornelius/Davidson in particular).

If you "don't need the best neighborhoods," there are probably really only a few areas that one should "avoid like the plague." Most would just recommend to look up the crime stats, and if possible visit at various times of day and decide if you like what you see.

Eedy, that same advice probably applies. "East Charlotte" can cover a pretty large area with varying degrees of desirability.

Where to open a business would depend on what kind of business it is.
