It’s almost time for the CIAA Tournament. This is a wonderful event for the city. Any of you newcomers who have never been, I’d strongly encourage you to make plans now to participate that week. As you’ll see below, there are several free events, and many are great for kids. If anybody has any questions, let me know. I’ve been participating in this event for years. As the saying goes, I’m “CIAA 4 Life!!!”

Below are the official events. But you can also find a great list of “unofficial” events and parties at this Charlotte.com link: Charlotte Observer | CIAA (http://www.charlotte.com/ciaa/ - broken link)

Note: It’s properly pronounced “C.I. Double A.” LOL!!!!

And then comes Nascar in May. They always have that festival Uptown (sorry I am not a Nascar fan so I don't know the name) but I do go and eat the food and walk around.

Uptown will be packed then too! And TONS of money will be spent then too!

This will be my first time experiencing this. I printed this out on Feb, 4th and have narrowed down when and where I'll be going for the next two weeks. I was so happy that some of the activities are for the over 30 crowd. I'm loving my new hometown Charlotte more and more each month.

I really appreciate this info, since I'll be visiting Charlotte at that time for a completely different reason!

I have never been to Charlotte before ... will I have problems parking near the Visulite on Elizabeth Avenue?

There are a few parties at this place near there called "Loft 1523". I don't recall what nights, or what crowd they're geared towards. You should check that Charlotte.com link. But I would think you wouldn't have that big of a problem, since there's a lot of space over there to park on the street. Mostly only people traveling in Uptown will have to be concerned about traffic. Honestly, unless you're here for the tournament, or going to a party, I'd recommend you stay away from Uptown, unless you've got a "lot" of time on your hands, or like the idea of cruising in traffic.
