You know, there is a guy in Raleigh that writes for the N&O, Barry Sanders, a pretty smart and funny guy. He recently wrote about the HUGE problem in America.
He wrote: "Black people think everything is about race, and white people think nothing is about race."
In my mind, anyone with a loaded pistol in their hand, safety off, and hammer cocked poses a clear threat to anyone and everyone around them. Applies equally to black, white, everyone. Firearms handling 101 teaches us don't take safety off until you are ready to shoot.
Others seem to believe, just as strongly, that only a black man would be perceived as a threat in the same situation; that a white man would get a free pass. Too me that is bewildering.
I cannot understand that position, just as those that don't see it my way, don't understand mine.
I take this position meaning ill intent to no one, and sorrow that anyone, in this case Mr Scott, was killed.
Moving forward, unless we can learn to understand each others' position, we will continue to muddle along. Of that I am certain.
Young black male with no prior arrests, open warrants, drugs, or weapons OBEYS police officers and is shot and killed in the process. I just don't recall reading anything like this

Indeed. 5 White guys got shot by the police in the USA the same day that Scott was shot. Why didn't we hear about any of them?
Headlines like this do not do anything positive for anyone.
