Can anyone help - my family lives in San Diego and we're thinking of moving back east (Im from NJ originally - Madison) - I live in a very family centered suburban area and am looking for the same. We have a 3 year old. There seem to be a lot of churhces - I am Christian and looking for a non- demonational, bible based church? Also preschools - are there waiting lists? How about the private christian schools are there waiting lists? Help....

Kara

Default Another Souther Californian looking to N.C.

Kara,

My family is also from Southern California (where we still reside) and live in a very family oriented community. We are also looking to move to the Matthews area this summer. Let me know if you find any great places (communities). Are you planning a trip to the area anytime soon?

I live in Matthews and have lived in the area for years. It is quite congested now but has a little of the 'home town' flavor left. It is a 'trendy' little area and housing is a little above average (though there are a few in the average category) but that may not be how you see it since you will be coming from CA.

Carolina Girl,
Do you eat at Stumptown Diner? If this is typical Diner fare in NC, I think I've died and gone to Diner Heaven.

(Diners are big in Jersey)

My parents live in brightmoor and love it. It's established with lots of trees. The homes are older, but that's what it takes to get a nice, warm neighborhood. They do illuminaries during Christmas (candles in the white paper bag lining the streets). I just like it and wish I lived there (maybe one day...). It's just an idea.
