Thank you all. It's a little nerve wracking thinking if the areas to look for jobs. I'm hoping that our commute won't be very far. I'm not fussy w any jobs as I will do secretarial work anywhere, even if it us right in a smaller town.

We have fairly general jobs. Administrative and auto repair.
So id think finding an area to live first wouldn't be a problem over finding work.
Is your "I" and "we" limited to just two adults?
If so then you can take on more risk than a family with kids.

It's VERY hard to get hired without being right there in front of an employer.
So... be there. Once you get hired somewhere THEN look for a rental nearby.
Maybe even wait until your partner can find their job.

Until then use the extended stay motel.
NEVER sign a lease unless you have jobs that can afford it.

When do you make the move? About a month before look on Indeed.com and take a look to see what's out there. You could also look at the state website and then look at Meck, Union, Cabarrus counties to see if they have any openings. There's a site for techs too but I can't remember what it is off the top of my head.

Ok ty. But like I said before I don't want to drive towards the metro area to look for jobs. I'm hoping for right in town or the opposite direction from clt. If all goes as planned we are hoping to be in NC by 11/1/2018

Mecklenburg makes up a very big area and I believe Mint Hill is in that area. Make sure you google map the companies to your address to make sure you'd be comfortable with the location. You may not want to drive towards the metro but that might be all that's available at the time.
