Moving here from Cleveland where the Clinic kind of rules the day. Is there a top-notch medical center here that stands above the rest, or are the highest ranked specialties kind of spread out among different hospitals/doctors?
You have two choices. Atrium Health and Novant. I've always used Atrium Health and have had zero issues with any of the doctors (pediatrician, gyncologist/OB, Ear, Nose, Throat, Primary Care, dermatologist) we've seen over the last 13 years we've lived down here.
Carolinas Healthcare has rebranded as Atrium Health due to mergers and consolidation, and has adopted a new marketing strategy. While they have called off a proposed merger with UNC Healthcare, they have acquired a large health system serving central Georgia, Navicent Health in Macon. The name Carolinas Healthcare would no longer apply outside of NC and SC. But the flagship hospital remains Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
Didn't Atrium re brand due to a problem with the Hosptal ????
No, they acquired a health care system in Georgia with five hospitals and have expansion plans into other states so calling the system "Carolinas HealthCare System" no longer geographically explained the footprint of the system. They picked a new name when they acquired the Georgia hospitals.
