I find that when I go to the gas station it hurts my feelings to pay $55.00 to fill my tank and not only that but my pocket book, big time!

We are staying at home more and shopping for groceries more effieciently.

I thought it would be interesting to find out how you are dealing with the higher costs and what suggestions you have for the rest of us.

Well, I am depressed after I figured out this morning it costs me $16 a DAY to drive to and from work And, this was paying $3.45.....

I filled up Tuesday when I was almost home. Drove to and from Weds (and no where else). This morning, I saw it was up again and passed a gas station for $3.45 and topped off. $16.00!!!!!!!!!!

I definitely combine trips- although I've always done this. But, now I go without if I don't stop on my way home from work, even if it is for the whole weekend.

jaynarie - You got a bargain at $3.45. At all the stations by me, it went from $3.489 to $3.559 in the space of three hours. By Memorial Day it will be up to $4.00. By Sept, it will drop to $3.89 and we'll all be thinking that is a bargain!

Yes, you are right!! I find myself saying things like $3.27 that is cheap compared to $3.54 today. I remember When,,,,,it was less than $2.00 not so long ago, and that was a bargain!

Oh, I know! If I'd have paid the $3.64 I saw a bit down the road, it would have cost me almost another dollar. Per day. My gas bill goes up for the month about $10 for every 10 cent hike.

I am eagerly awaiting September- my lease on my apt is up (and I can move closer to work) and my car (SUV) will be eligible for a lease pull ahead.

In all honesty, gas prices have went from "afterthought" status to "hmmm, I'd better start looking at slowing down" status. I find that I'm easing off the gas pedal earlier when slowing and not accelerating as quickly as I used to. I drive a 4x2 full size p/u and I've always been leary of the MPG's. Now with gas jumping in price, I have slowed down and do drive easier than before.

The commute to work is no big deal. However, my DS and my favorite hobby is geocaching and we've found all the caches within 10 miles of our home. Now a day of caching burns up a lot more gas than before.

And the vehicle you drive. I'm stunned daily by just how many LARGE vehicles are on the road in Charlotte.
