My family and I moved from Colorado to Charlotte, NC a little over a year ago. We are looking at buying a house and really like the Belmont area and areas near there. We found a house in southeastern Gastonia (off Gaston Day School Road) and i was curious how this area of Gastonia was. How are the schools, surrounding areas, crime rates? Any help would be appreciated!
You're following the thought process most people do... hunting on the southeast side, if you feel some connection to Charlotte and will be making trips there regularly. I think that's why, it's the more stable and middle/professional class portion of Gastonia.
I don't have kids, but I don't hear as much trash talk about Gaston County's schools as CMS. People here have been supporting the school bonds, (whereas in Mecklenburg it can be a more open question if it'll pass when one is placed on the ballot.)
If you're in Charlotte now, just come out here and start talking with people - in line at the stores, parents picking up their kids from school, etc. You'll get a better breadth of opinions than on this forum, IMO.

Thank you!
What schools are listed in the listing? As long as you don't see Huss High School you should be OK. You should have your choices for groceries from Aldi, Lidl, Publix, and Harris Teeter. That's a nice area.
