As a fan of Texas Hold'em and blackjack, I was just wondering if the was any casino's closer to Charlotte than Atlantic City.... Living in NY, there seems to be casinos popping up on indian reservations all over up here... Was wondering if there has been any discussion of that in NC

I am also a poker player, and the closest "real" poker to here is at SunCruz Casinos in North Myrtle Beach/Little River, SC. You play on a cruise boat, and you only get about 3 1/2 hours to play during the cruise, but hey, poker's poker.

I would strongly recommend getting there as soon as the boat opens so you can sign up for a table. They only have a few tables, and they fill up pretty quickly.

I would also recommend bringing Dramamine and a particle mask, as the water gets really choppy, and the smoke on the boat is overwhelming.

You know.... I was going to post this exact same message almost verbatim. Even w/ the face mask!! lol. I was on a Sun Cruz in Jacksonville beach, FL & it was the exact same way!!

But, poker is poker. I also heard that harras in Cherokee was getting a poker room.. was it a video poker room?

Cherokee also has Digital Blackjack which is not a slot machine. We were there last January.

Do any of the casino's mentioned have free transportation? I know that some casinos bring buses in, you pay up front and then get the play back when you arrive.

thanks

I'm encouraged w/all the poker players here (I'm one too..)

If you're in Charlotte, I'd google "Meetup" "Charlotte" & hold'em....

There are local games around that are pretty good.....

Ditto what the other posters said...the boat in SC is the closest for hold'em...Tunica I'd assume would be the next closest....?
