May I ask what you think of Cresswind in Mint Hill? It seemed according to Google Maps that museums, etc in Charlotte are a 20 minute drive, South Park Mall and Uptown/City Center 30 minutes, lots of green on the map (parks, botanical gardens, preserves, etc).

I know not walkable and compromise will be necessary but aside from some 55+ communities in Florida, most all of them in other states we have considered including TX are an hour or even two from large cities and far more isolated. Thanks.
I think Cresswind is nice, it’s a pretty large community that connects Albermarle road and Camp Stewart road, so they do get a little through traffic which is annoying…it is attached to Larkhaven Hills which is also a pretty nice neighborhood…though not tailored to the 55+ community…but they have their own clubhouse and pool so there likely isn’t a ton of bleed over. There’s a nice newer Novant Medical Center and Novant ER right beside the neighborhood for immediate use, or a drive up Albermarle road into town to the bigger hospitals. Not much action in the immediate vicinity but as you said you are only about 25-30 minutes from good shopping/uptown/“stuff”. Novant is a major healthcare provider in the area, they and Atrium have the vast majority of care centers here so you’d be able to find specialists with either group.

If you want something with a little more conveniences nearby, just north of Cresswind is the Enclave at Holcomb…right off Rocky River Road, it is in immediate proximity to Farmington, which is a pretty large multi-use development with grocery, shopping, restaurants, movie theater, and there’s an Atrium ER nearby as well. Good prices, good location, similar drive into uptown.

Hello,

Please feel free to remove this post but was just trying to help. I have lived in Charlotte and surrounding areas for almost 30 years and have been doing real estate all over the Carolinas. Please let me know if I can of any assistance.
I already know price range you're looking for. How are is considered ideal for you from say Center City or some other landmarks? Have you considered Fort Mill and Indian Land, SC or that's too far?

Thanks very much but we already are working with a realtor. SC is a nice place to visit but we do not want to live there. If we do not find what we are looking for in Charlotte area, we may look in the Triangle. .

Default Moving to Charlotte…maybe

I had to respond to your post because we are so similar. My husband and I are considering Charlotte (or possibly Asheville), are active, liberal (I’m Jewish), and I paint. We want a one storied home. Not many of those in Asheville, more in Charlotte. Still considering…

The over 55 community in South Park looks outstanding. There are over 55 communities spread around Charlotte that are walking distances to amenities.

Good luck. We hope to do an exploratory trip soon. It's hard!

They’re likely referring to Griffith Lakes…not my favorite part of town but not too far from uptown and there are some shopping options nearby…just don’t bet on spending much of your free time shopping at the nearby Northlake Mall, as it is quickly going downhill.
Your agent should be able to provide you the names of any active or perspective 55+ communities in the charlotte metro area, they should also be sending you ranch homes in active, settled communities that you may like.
