I will be working in Uptown, very close to the Panthers Stadium. I'm looking at renting a condo uptown. (I've ruled out trying to buy something). The condos that I really like and that are within walking distance of work run $1300-1400 for a 1 bedroom. I'm really having a hard time justifying this amount of money. I like 5th & Poplar, Trademark and the Avenue. I"m looking for something that's a 5-7 minute walk to work. Does anyone live Uptown that works Uptown that thinks it's definitely worth the money, upwards of $1400?

You might be able to find something a little cheaper in South End and take the 5 minute train ride.

IMO, its such a buyer's market right now, I find it hard for anyone to justify paying that kind of money to rent anything, anywhere in Charlotte. You could easily buy for that amount in about any section of town.

Try the apartment complexes closer to Johnson and Wales, Post Gateway, 1005 W. Trade, You can find something for 1000. Also, I've seen some ads for condos in Courtside (6th and Caldwell) for about $1100. Check craigslist.

Live Uptown and worked Uptown until May 1st (Hope to be working back Uptown in about a month). That is a little steep for rent. We bought Uptown in 2002 and persnoally I think it is worth every penny. We doubled our money in 6 years...things are different now though so hard to say.

We like being able to walk everywhere that we personally need...work (hopefully again real soon), restaurants, grocery, pharmacies, Light Rail...etc.

Uptown is booming...look at all the cranes & construction. More & more conveniences are coming to Uptown...after being here for 6 years we have seen it boom. It isn't for everyone...but suits our lifestyle.

You may want to also check out SouthEnd, Dilworth, Elizabeth where rents are usually lower.

GOOD LUCK!
