Hi, Im American married to a German man, can anybody help us on how we can get a list of German business for my German husband. We are now in leaving in Germany and planing on moving back at the end of the year. I have put up a post and got a respond back but the site that was giving was not helpful ( but thank you for the site) and also how would my husband get a work permit and how long does it take.
I don't know the answer to your question, but am also very interested in such a list. My fiancee is German and I would be very interested in working for a German company in Charlotte, especially if it would give me the opportunity to possibly be transfered to Germany sometime in the future.

Are you looking for businesses whose owners speak German? Businesses that are headquatered in Germany, but have branches here? I'm inclined to believe that most companys are American owned, by people of German decent.

According to this link from the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce, their data indicates Germany ranks tops in Foreign Firms Represented in Charlotte (as of 2005) with 116 (see Page 6 of this report). They don't list those firms on this report, but I suspect that you could email them and get the list.
Also, I just found this article (from 2005) local newspaper entitled, "Why Germany Loves Us So Much." Maybe this would be some good info to build your case for coming to Charlotte?
As far as your husband getting a work permit, I would think that it's faster to get a visa as a spouse. A K1 visa. Atleast a year if you do it through the states. Maybe 3-4 months if done in Germany at a consulate. I highly recommend you to do it in Germany. Took my wife nearly 1 1/2 years with all the mailing that had to be done.
Probably one of the newest German companies is Daimler Trucks in Fort Mill. Office just opened last week. It is a German owned company, but positions are fairly specialized. I believe open positions are on monster.
thank you all for the helpful information. But the bier bit, well im a wine person.
