There should've been some way to keep those libraries open for a couple of hours each week. Some of those libraries are in neighborhoods in which served a population that is already underserved. Libraries are supposed to meet the needs of their communties. What a pity!
That is a shame! A levy (or whatever you call it here) just passed in November to build a new library here in Steele Creek. I wonder how it will be affected, or if they could pull money from that to help some of the struggling libraries.
They'll bring them back when things improve. Myers Park and Scaleybark are kind of dumps and Myers Park is really small. Is Morrison Regional the big one by SouthPark? That surprises me.

Mecklenburg County commissioners have just unanimously authorized a $35.6 million bond referendum for land purchases on the November 6th ballot, which includes $1.65 million for land to be purchased for another regional library branch in Steele Creek. A location has not yet been determined. Actual construction costs of the second Steele Creek branch will cost an additional $18 million, for which funding is not addressed.
I hope that this is not going through, this money could be used to save some existing libraries.
