Hey there, I am looking for someone, preferably an independent or small business that has experience designing interiors for restuarants, cafes coffee houses etc. Every designer I've talked to, only focuses on the home decor. If you know someone, please toss me a pointer.

Thanks!

can you give me an idea of the scope of the project? my mom is a retired designer/decorator who occasionally does side work. this would be a good opportunity to get her to stop gabbing with the ladies and get to work!!

I'd like to start having discussions soon. My building is under construction, and I expect to have keys in February. I am in the process now of looking for a GC. Plans and layout and approvals and some permits are done.

1500 sq ft cold shell comes my way in Feb. Need someone that has done restuarants, cafes or coffeehouses. Need someone that knows furniture, colors, commerical lighting etc. Mech plans and layout is done, but need someone who can take the stuff in my head and make it become reality.

The guy that we use is coming back into the country in December, so I guess it isn't feasible for you if you need him before then. My friends are working with him on a project right now and it is so difficult with him being overseas...can't wait till he's back....they could not ever imagine using someone else and I also love his work.
I also have a friend that does this but she has started a new job with a different firm and I know she is too busy for side work right now.
I would suggest going into some local places that you like the design of and ask them who they used. I wouldn't limit myself from just looking at a few restaurants and coffee places. I would also look at some of the local night clubs, bars (many of them have a great color scheme and design elements that look just as good in the daytime, if you can get anyone to let you look at them during the day), cafeteria's, even hotel/bank lobbies.
Good luck with your new venture!
