I'm out in Kings Mountain, & really had no clue what they would do. I saw some city workers out, occasionally, putting up the occasional white snowflake lights like they put up in Philly. (Yes, the exact same lights). A while later I saw a multicolor Santa with sleigh, like a few of the South Jersey towns will put up & thought that was probably about it. There's lots of open land out here & a lot of existing houses have fallen victim to the mill closures, so, even though there are some very nice houses, not a booming tax base.
Wednesday night, while coming back from the Ingles I looked down Battleground, & it was all lit up with a lot of the snowflakes. I was driving so couldn't tell what all was there besides the snowflakes, but it was all lit up, very Victorian-style. I'll go back & park & walk around to see what all is there.
Since you are in Kings Mountain, you might consider taking a trip through downtown Forest City. They do a very nice job with their lights. Shelby's court square is also pretty nice, but not on par with Forest City's.
A good trip would be to head through Shelby and Forest City on your way to Barley's Taproom and Pizzeria in Spindale. Barley's has really nice beer on tap, decent pizza (I know I should not bring that up in this forum) and other food, and good live music on Friday and Saturday nights (typically bluegrass, jazz, or the like). I would guess that Forest City is about 40 minutes from Kings Mountain.

Thanks. That's good to know. I'll hope for blue grass.
It's OK to speak of pizza in my thread. NYers don't like the pizza in the Philly area, either. I make "spaghetti sauce" that is very midwestern. I had graduated college before I knew about basil & oregano
I live in south Charlotte. There's not really a "town" per se, but as usual Ballantyne has put up Christmas trees at each one of the 4 Stonehenge arches on the corner.
Our neighborhood is filled with these white deer silhouettes. These apparently are "the" lawn ornament to put out at Christmas. I don't understand why. I find them kind of plain, and it seems like they'd take up an awful lot of room, even broken down, in storage during the year.
The large white zombie deer freaked out my sister-in-law's little dog on their walks while they were here over Thanksgiving. Every house that had them, her dog would start barking insanely until they passed. I just go for a bright red amaryllis wreath and garland on my front door myself. Nothing overboard.

I've often wondered about storage space for the deer, myself. A house in my old neighborhood put out 8 with a Rudolph in front of them. they must have rented storage elsewhere. There was no way that they would fit in the house.
