The last time we went there we waited over 2 hours to see a doctor and if it hadn't been for one of the UC Medics that brought my mother to the hospital raising a pretty big stink, we might have still be sitting in an exam room. I know that there have been several mismanged cases there leading to fatalities.

The same thing could be said of just about any other emergency room in the region or the country. Comparatively speaking, 2 hours is not a very long wait depending on why you are there and depending on how sick the other patients are that day. Overall, I would not judge the quality of the overall hospital by the emergency department because great hospital can have lousy emergency care and vice-versa. It all depends on why you are there.

As a hospital CMC Union has a pretty good reputation in the area overall and I think they have made real improvements in the past few years. They still have issues, but so does every other hospital in Charlotte.

I can't agree. Not sure were you are getting that their rep is good, because I can't find anyone that will agree nor based on my on personal experices can I agree. And I am not just talking about the ER. The only other place that I can think of that's worse is Piedmont in Rock Hill.

Anyone that has been brought into an ER by Medic,
unconscious and unresponsive, should be triaged, put in a room and monitored. Not parked at receiving and left to wait while many not as serious cases were attended to. The night this happened there were open rooms and they weren't that busy, but they were pretty disinterested in doing their jobs. NEVER once did this happen at Pres-Matthews, we were quickly triaged and placed in a room or at least triaged and parked at the first available space, never just left to wait until "someone will be with you as soon as they can".

I am in the medical field, so that is where I get my information. I know people who work there and have seen many patients who have received treatment at CMC Union. We can agree to disagree, which is fine.

I agree, that patient should be seen immediately. They shouldn't even be triaged and should go straight to a room if they were as you described.

By far the worst hospital in the Charlotte region.
