I came across this event yesterday in the Observer. Lake Norman hosting first AquaPalooza party | CharlotteObserver.com (http://www.charlotteobserver.com/local/story/777549.html - broken link)
Doesnt this go on almost every weekend on the lake? They now just have an official name for it....
I am pretty sure what you are referring to takes place much further south on the lake, at Beachin Island, than where the article says this event is supposed to take place. See LKNfun.com - Photo Albums
Unlike Beachin Island this is a pretty tight congested area of the lake right where the main channel narrows down to go under the 150 bridge. There is also 4-5 marinas, two public boat landings, and the Queens Landing boat up bar right in this location. If you are new to boating, you might want to avoid this event. If not, then you know the score anyway. My guess is it won't be as bad as the boating meyhem that occurs when they shoot off fireworks at Queens Landing on the 4th of July.
Sounds like a good weekend to do something else. I am betting there will be way too many boats on the lake to have fun.
Actually, it might be a great weekend to go out. With a bunch of boats at AP tied up, there will be fewer out and about cruising and turning up wake. Well, until its over. If its Saturday, there might be people getting there on Friday for the prime real estate.
