So I just recently moved to NC from Ohio. Stayed in a temporary apartment for a month and moved to my house yesterday. Why do so many people down here hate or at least strongly show dislike toward northern people? I don't get that. I didn't move here to steal your land, your lifestyle, or your women. I moved here because I don't like Ohio. The people are rude, the scenery sucks, and we don't have good food. So what's the reasoning?

You had another thread where you referenced Gastonia. I'm kind of interested in your location, but more interested in what's bringing it on. Can you cite an incident?
I think for the most part when this happens, people from "up north" come with this pre conceived notion that everyone from "down here" dislikes people from "up there" and your attitude and the way you carry yourself shows it.
Lighten up. I think when you start looking you will find that this area is full of people that are just like you and are not from the south.

^^I agree. I moved from OH 6 yrs ago and haven't experienced what OP mentioned. In fact it seems like there are more Northerners in CLT than natives. Our experience has been all positive and I have many new 'southern' friends. Could it be your attitude toward others?

Why do you think Ohioans are rude? I don't get THAT!
Maybe southerners have heard there's bad food and scenery in Ohio. I know I have heard that before, but I can't for the life of me figure out where. Can anybody help me out? Where did I hear that from?
People can be rude anywhere. Probably less rudeness in the south though. I travel to Columbus, OH often to visit my sister, who is southern, but has lived there for over 15 years. She really likes Columbus and I enjoy visiting. I never lived there so I can't tell you how the people are although I've never had anyone be rude to me there. Apparently you (OP) had quite a bad experience with a southerner. Brush it off and move on. Most people are accepting here. If you continue to have problems with southerners, you are obviously provoking them in some way.
Ya know, there is a good reason that most southerners are not rude to each other, if someone gets too much out of hand, someone else may well shoot them. We can put up with a lot of stuff, but bad manners is not one of them.
