As a farmer's market aficionado, I am always on the lookout for fresh, locally grown produce (what's the in vogue term? Local foods?). Farmer's markets can be disappointing when most of the veggies are actually from Florida, Mexico, etc. Found a place just off I-85 one exit north of Concord Mills - a real family farm, little produce stand right by their house. Bought some heirloom tomatoes, sunburst squash, new potatoes, bicolor corn, fresh eggs, honey. Family went nuts - honestly, that corn was better than anything I have ever eaten in my long life. You have to try their Cherokee Purple tomatoes on white bread with Duke's mayo - to die for. Nice people, generous with tips for my home garden. They even have a website - Barbee Farms. The son was at a farmer's market that day, so they are out there. Loved their business card motto - "If we don't grow it, we don't sell it".

Just a more than satisfied customer - we will definitely be going back again and again and again....

Barbee Farms has had a great reputation for a long time here Glad you found it, but you have made me hungery for a BLT with fresh tomatoes

Wish I had found them earlier, LovesMountains... the *mater* sandwich with Dukes mayo and the Cherokee Purple tomatoes from there was out of this world! The honey is delectable as well - what a different, lighter taste than that in a grocery store!
