Wow. The already high state income tax rate has been raised. They are adding a 2% surcharge on married couples w/taxable income $100k-250k, 3% for over $250k. NC rates were high to start with compared to other states. Is this increase only on income over $100k or an added 2% on all your taxable income if over $100k. 1% sales tax increase. I would think some of these tax increases are temporary (I hope). Darn, they are even taxing my cigars again after the Fed tacked on huge tax 2 mos. ago. Ms Perdue did not get ALL the taxes she wanted, sheesh. How the heck did the state get it's self $4.5B in the hole anyway??

There is no such thing as a temporary income tax, Hee Hee. So even if your Guv tells you it is temporary, don't believe it.

Add to that the inevitable increases here in this county/city . . . and utility rate increases . . .

How did we get in this mess? Trying to fund programs - a lot of them federally mandated. Of course, the secret is not to accept Federal funding - and just cut out some of these programs if our state cannot afford them.

Yea, another milking of the working folk for the benefit of the useless folk.

How does the state get $4.5B in the hole? Easy. Free rides for old people, free money for single parents, free tuition for the poor, free lunches, free healthcare, free everything. Perdue = democrat, your taxes = higher. Goes hand in hand.

Remember, "you work hard so they don't have to".

On a side note, the city of Baltimore a few years ago raised taxes like this on people making over $1M a year. As a result, the city lost 35% of their tax revenue the next year and the number of million dollar earners living in the city dropped from like 3,500 to 900. Take note Bev.

Hey, Bev doesn't care, she and the Dems will just raise taxes higher on the remaining fools. Note how quick she learned from Obama to railroad legislation through without any debate.

I'm not a Dem or Repub, but I am fed up with the spending by both.

The NC Legislature is also going to pass another local option for counties to raise sales taxes by another 1/2% for transit projects. 1/4% in smaller counties. It also allows new fees for car registrations and other such hidden taxes. It's being slipped in at the last minute.

hope you will all write your elected officials.

venting on a message board is great and all, but if you're not willing to whip off a letter or a phone call then you're not really helping much...
