Has anyone done the Lowes Motor Speedway tour? We were considering it next week when some family comes to visit- Opinions?

I haven't done the tour yet, when we move we will. I know you can ride in a van around the track. I think you would have fun. Just down the street is Hendrick Motorshops and they have a great car display. Pop in the gift shop at Lowe's and they will give you the directions (to all the shops). Been to the Coke 600 at Lowe's and the gift shop twice, just not the tour.

Went there this week. It was great. They had us riding with drivers for 3 laps at 185mph! It was incredible. I went around twice it was so much fun.

What "tours" are offered? I have heard about the Petty driving experience - sounds fantastic but it is a bit pricey for me. I have been to the dragstrip twice already, and I went to the Autofair, so I have seen the Speedway itself. Walked up the side of the track just to see how amazingly steep the bank is. I would absolutely love to get the chance to drive on that track!

We did it last September and loved it! It was the best money that was spent. Our guide was great and gave us a lot of inside information We even were able to get out several times and explore things and get our picture taken in Victory Lane. Then afterwards we went up and sat in the stands for awhile and watched the Petty Experience drivers do their thing. Next time my daughter comes down I think I'm going to try and take her over there. Trying to make her into a race fan and this is a cheap way to do it.

The shop is great, too! I actually found several things there that I had been looking for and couldn't find elsewhere.

Go to the giftshop the day after Thanksgiving. Spend $50 there, and you get to drive your own car for 2 laps around the track. Best time to go is later in the afternoon- close to 5. Hope you get to go- it's a blast!!
