I am moving from S. Florida and am very interested in having a pool. Do you have to winterize a pool in Charlotte? How much of the year can you realistically use the pool? Any comments or suggestions would be helpful. thanks!

You know I had a pool in Arizona and I really could only use it from the end of May to mid September. The water was too cold before that and after that. I'm thinking it's the same thing here except maybe a few weeks earlier like end of August if it's not heated.

How long did you use yours in Florida?

Any other thoughts?

I live in S. Florida, so I can pretty much use the pool year round. I use a heater when it gets chilly out. I am just curious if you had a combo of heater, cover, and solar heat, if you could use the pool for an extended period of time.

If you had a heater I can't see why your swimming season couldn't be expanded.

I had a spa in Az also and we went in it on some very cold nights, we plan on just getting a spa here.

Default swimming pools

Yes, winterize. About 7-8 months.

We open our pool in the beginning of April and we usually close it sometime in mid October. If you are using a heater you will lengthen that swim season. Some people do not choose to close their pools and let them run all winter instead of dealing with the fuss of the cover.
