I need to get estimates and find someone who can do a good job on my windows - interior and exterior. I have double hung windows, 6 "lights" or panes in each one. The mullions or whatever you call them need scraping and painting. So I need someone meticulous. There isn't a lot of trim on the house, but I guess I could contract to do all the trim at the same time. The trim isn't in bad shape but the window definitely need painting.

So I am looking for recommendations.

I am fine with buying the paint myself - I use Benjamin Moore.

This has to be someone who will scrape and hand paint, not use spray.

Queen City Painters did 2 of our bedrooms (Charlotte Painting Queen City Painting Company). They turned a bright pink room into a low key yellow room where you cannot see any pink. I don't know about windows but the owner seems pretty knowledgeable and could tell you more. Not sure if I can post his info but send me a PM or email if you want me to get it to you.

P.S. He literally came in while we were moving and sounded legitimate and professional so we had him come back for the rooms! He's listed on Angie's List as well.

Thank you so much! I really want to get estimates in the next two weeks - so we can get this done b/f Sept. is over (if possible). I hope I can get the names of several painters so I can compare cost and service.

Really appreciate the lead! They sound terrific to work with!

Ani--do the windows need caulking? If so, be sure to have the painter include this in his price.

Good thing you mentioned that, cause I have not really looked at the caulking. Glad you thought about it, John.

I could refer you to several great painters. But I'm not sure you can see my posts. If you're interested in recommendations from a General Contractor, message me and I'll happily help...

BTW, if your windows are hand glazed TDL's the chalking will be the least of your worries. The glazing would be the real issue, not all painters know how to handle glazing, though they'll say they can. Takes a painter well experienced in window glazing.

Thank you for the info. I have never moved on with this project. Put it on the back burner b/c the money was spent on carpeting, lol. So now I just need someone cheap who will crawl up a ladder and scrape and paint.

I don't have an historic home; it was build in the late 80s, so the windows are nothing precious. The previous homeowner had his nephews paint the mullions, etc and they just did a lousy job - and so I need someone to straighten out their mess and repaint.

Hey Ani, I use Erik Hartz for painting my interior & everything else. He's really reasonably priced (sometimes too much for his own good I think), nice, intelligent with good ideas, & stands behind his work. He can even build houses, so I call him for every single thing I need done from gutters to electrical. Company is Hartz Construction & number is (704) 747-2601; estimates are free 'no job too small'. He & a specialist friend of his even refinished my bathroom cabinets.

ChessPie - you are a jewel for sharing his info!!! This is exactly what I need - someone who could take on several jobs around here. Due to health issues, hubby can't do this stuff any longer. We need to find someone who is reliable and isn't trying to gouge the customer - we have several jobs for him since he is versatile. REALLY REALLY appreciate this.

THANK YOU!!!
