Interesting story by WCNC on the causes of most CATS bus crashes. Of course, they are usually caused by impatient motorists, or just reckless driving. Charlotte Observer ran this article, with the video by WCNC provided. Some good wrecks.

I ride the bus to work 4 days a week, and I do not envy those drivers at all. There are way too many drivers who think the bus drivers will do anything to avoid a wreck (which they do try), and take full advantage of it. I'd be a nervous wreck, just with the few close calls I've seen.

Unreal. The one with the car trying to pass the bus, which is turning left, on its left side blows my mind.

I love the comment where they say people don't see the bus, and they tried to paint the bus white and install flashers to make them more visible. LMAO. HOW can you MISS a GIANT vehicle like a bus??! LOL.

There is a flip side to this coin. The bus drivers aren't always innocent in this. 51X is the Idlewild bus and I often see it trying to get across Independence without using a turn signal. Kind of hard to give the bus a berth if you don't know what it is going to do.

I mean, I've always known that the vast majority of people are stupid. By definition 49% have to be below median... It always surprises me though just how dumb average is.

The way the local NBC station was advertising their 6:00 PM news by promising the "shocking footage" and "viewer discretion advised" made me wonder if this is one of those special ratings periods.
