Safe travels, and best to you for going. I can't imagine what folks in the Gulf are going through right now, and the impact it will have on the marine life will be huge.

Sunny, I totally understand. It's making me pretty upset too. I just read today that they've found 30 sea turtles dead on the beach. It's going to devastate that area for a long time. Please keep us posted on what you decide to do!

Sunny you may want to start a thread in the Alaska Section & see if there's anyone there who may have helped the animals after the Valdez spill. Maybe they can give you some advice.

These turtle deaths may not be related to the oil spill. For some reason this spring has seen increased numbers of dead turtles on the shores of several beaches in the Gulf (20-30 at a time). They don't know why it is happening yet, but they started washing ashore well before the oil spill. Certainly the oil spill will make an already bad year for the turtles even worse.

Hopefully they will be able to cap that thing soon and avoid the potential for further damage and harm to the ecosystems.
