I'm new to Chattanooga having lived here a little over a year. Twice we have gotten this letter from the city water company about the requirement to have our Backflow preventor/apparatus checked. It's my understanding it's required every year yet my neighbors who have the same system I have know nothing about it. We were out of town when the guy came to do it this year or at least he cashed the check. The water was turned off for this system and when we returned and my husband turned the water back on the Backflow preventor was leaking. I don't think he checked it and wonder why others don't seem to have to have theirs checked. We didn't have this type of irrigation system where I lived before and I'm just wanting some additional information about this.

I have to deal with them at work, but not at home. That said, at work, I have to have them tested yearly to verify they are functioning correctly.
