As noted, unless you are in an area where the roads have changed a lot recently, there isn't much different from update to update, and generally more of them are around points of interest than actually roads and navigation.
I updated mine every 4-5 years or so instead of dropping the money every year or two for slight updates.
I'll probably be moving from Colorado Springs to Phoenix in the next few months (at least I hope I will). Beyond that, not so much traveling anymore.

Unless you have to find a certain address in a newer development most of the
valley is set up an a easy grid system, and if you keep in mind that everything
east of Central Ave are Streets and to the west are Avenues you'll be OK
it's worked well for me for 40+ years
I get the same mailers. But, quite frankly, the GM navigation system is so primitive that I rarely ever use it. What I use instead is Apple CarPlay and Maps on my iPhone. If you have an Android smart phone, just use Android Auto instead of Apple CarPlay. No upgrading needed.
