Not sure if this is the correct place to pose such a question, but anyway.

The passenger side tail light doesn't work with turn signals or when braking. However, all 3 bulbs light up when I use the key fob to lock or unlock the door. So obviously there is no issue with the bulbs or the connections, so what could be the problem?

2 filaments in the bulb, each with its own specific duties. 1 is out. Replace the bulb.

The 3 bulbs in the taillight are linked together in an assembly, doesn't it seem unlikely that one of the filaments is out in each bulb?

Thanks for the reply.

Jack

Wait, there are 3 bulbs just inside the one light assembly, and they all do the same thing? That's weird.

Kinda stumped then.

Mike

Frequently this kind of thing is a bad ground, figure out where the ground wire from the tail light assembly goes, if it's loose, tighten, if not, take it loose, clean the contact surface with Scotch-Brite (pan scouring plastic pad) or similar, put back together.

Only one of the bulbs in the taillight functions as a dual-illumination bulb (brake/signal). There should be the one bulb in the largest section of the taillight that works as the brake/signal as well as a running light. There will be the bulb in the smaller section of the light that functions as a marker/running light. Then there is the reverse light bulb.

Pull the bulb out of the larger section and look at it. There should be 2 filaments in it. Odds are, one is broken.

Thanks 1badgmc, this was exactly my problem. $4.53 later and I'm back in business.

My taillight on my passenger side of my 2008 Chevy impala ltz isn't working properly. The brake light, blinker are all working fine but the running light isn't. Any idea what the problem is? I bought a while new tail light and it's still not working

I've had some trouble with poor electrical contact of the bulbs with their sockets on my 2005 Malibu.
