Cadillac new Vehicle will start at $75K. What do you guys think?

Lots of extra money for a Volt...But I guess a TT costs a lot of extra money compared to the Golf that underpins it as well...The car is considerably better looking than it's Chevy cousin.

True..I guess when I think 75k for a car, I am thinking flagship status ( 7 series, S-Class etc). If you had the money, what would you buy?

As a Volt owner, I'd love to have this car, but I'd like to have seen it start at closer to $50k, especially now that they've got the Voltec drivetrain lower in cost. But the styling in and out is spectacular, and unlike the Tesla, it can be drivein farther than it's electric range with existing refueling infrastructure, while still having enough electric range to deal with 80% of the country's daily driving range. The average lease is 12k miles per year, which is 1000 miles a month, or 33 miles a day. Average annual actual miles is 12-15k, so that means 33-40 miles per day is where the vast majority of drivers drive. Putting that amount of electric range in a car that looks that good is a winning formula, though GM doesn't expect to sell more than 2000-3000 ELRs annually (a reasonable target considering they've sold half that many Volts every month...)

Also... for those that think this is just a Volt with different skin, you should Google and read. The ELR is more than the level of superficial content you assume. Furthermore... even if it wasn't... the skin alone seems enough for plenty of people. That's why you can buy purses for hundreds and thousands of dollars. Or shoes. Or laptops. Or phones. Or houses for millions. Rich people think differently that the rest of us.

We'll see a Kia that looks like that in two years for around $25k that gets 40 mpg and they'll sell a few thousand a month.

I just think 75K is a bit steep. It is a great looking car, but I just don't think it is worth its asking price even after the $7500 rebate.

Ifknow Caddy is trying to raise there image but For that amount of money,there are so many better cars out there IMO

You are correct Merc63 thinking rich ppl think differently and this will be compared to the Tesla...which might not a good thing or maybe it will be.

Very nice-looking car, however the MSRP definitely puts it in the luxury niche status.

Base Telsa Model S (60 kW·h battery) does it in 5.9 seconds, so yeah, the Cadillac is sluggish

I also am over the look of the Cadillac. I loved it at first, but they are becoming just too common. Their look is dated imo. Telsa's are way sexier

Better be one damn nice interior for two reasons:

1) That's the price of two cars. Typically when you pay a rebadge snob tax, it's much less. Eg, If you wan't your Avalon with a Lexus badge it'll only cost you an extra 20% more. The Lincoln brand is similar. They certainly don't cost twice for the snob badge.

2) It's $75k for an ecobox. For a $70k, the performance is spectacularly pathetic and identical to the mechanical twin. Basically, it's only justification for existence is the toys/interior. It's tough for me to imagine them being worth double the money, even for a rich person.
