I don't care how rich you are you should never let your 17 year old kid have a BMW...We grew up in Woodridge and my parents moved us to Naperville our Freshman year of Highschool. This was 20 years ago but still talk about a culture shock...I couldn't believe all the kids who were driving around in BMW's and super expensive cars. It kind of made me sick...and still does! The kid should spend a few days in jail (at least) so he realizes how stupid he was acting and appreciate what his rich a** has

I hope someone tracks down his parents and asks them how THEY will punish him. I'd be interested in hearing what they have to say.
Yep. Appalling.

I live near Lake Forest and most of the kids seem to be driving moms Range Rover or Beemer. Thankfully most of them seem to be a bit more responsible than this idiot.

My dad would have killed me. I wouldn't have driven a car again as long as I lived at home.

I agree, taking the license away is a must and for a 17 year old, harsh. I hope it is for an extended period of 1-3 years with supervision after that, but seeing that first time DUI offenders only have their license taken for 6? months probably won't be long enough. But then again, for doing this under 18, will they take license until he is 21, or is that only if alcohol was involved? Who knows what type of parents this kid has. My kid, it would take a huge chill pill not to go "old School" on him. New school would have him working to pay me for the increase in auto insurance I am now facing. Old School would require a lot of physically demanding jobs around the house for many months after a session that resulted in not being able to sit comfortably for a few days.

Actually if you read the article, the teen is from Plainfield, and was arrested in Naperville. Article (http://www.suburbanchicagonews.com/napervillesun/news/2659658,Teen-clocked-95-mph-25-mph_NA083110.article - broken link) Not to say that it couldn't or wouldn't happen in Naperville, but just saying there are bad eggs everywhere, not limited to specific towns.

And the "Most Idiotic Parent of the Year" award goes to the fine folk who bailed this kid out of jail.

This kid needs the gift of dignity to face the consequences of his choices.
