I am going to be moving to Chicago to be married this year, and we plan to live in the suburbs. My fiance works in River Forest, so we're checking out condos within a decent driving distance from there.

We've found two tremendous condos so far, but neither allowed dogs. I just lost my show quality bichon frise (about 17#), and plan to have another once we're settled. So far, I've only seen two condos that allow pets - is that the usual in Chicagoland? Does anyone know of any condos or 1-story townhouses (we call them patio or garden homes) that allow small dogs? Thanks for any help!

I'm guessing townhouses would be more forgiving regarding pets. Good luck on your search. I'm looking forward to the replies as I would like to know too

Exciting times with your move and I can relate to the fur kids
but anyway.
Go right to the source ask a real estate agent to provide a list of pet friendly condos
within your wish list area.

I am sure you will find many
We ran into a problem because we had at the time 2 dogs and a cat
that was a problem
most allow a max of 2

Yeah we ran into the weight limit or noticed that
our pets were 9lbs so it was never a concern

eventually I would like to get into a condo or townhome and get out of mowing the yard etc.....
and i know this will be an issue since we have two pups

and according to my lovely wife we will always have two pups
One was enough for me but oh well they are fun

Just have to wait this economy out and then put this home up for sale
ah keep dreaming right

I've always liked the idea of having two dogs, ya know because they need playmates, right? In your situation, and for others like yourself, I would suggest a townhome, usually because they are more private and hopefully the noise wouldn't bother a neighbor as much, ya know?

Yeah, a little off topic lol but I've not seen that article. I would like to read about it though. I'll check it out.

It would be great to start a thread on that
