What do people think of this ongoing saga in the St. Charles 303 school district? Will this impact resale?

Quote:
In 2011, 17 parents sued the district, alleging officials had acted illegally
when the district changed Davis Elementary into a kindergarten through
second-grade school and Richmond Elementary into a school for third- through
fifth-graders. At the time, Richmond Elementary had failed for three consecutive
years to meet federal progress standards, according to district spokesperson Jim
Blaney.

In a revised ruling and new order filed Wednesday, Kane County Circuit Court
Judge David Akemann ordered the district develop the new improvement plan for
the students at both the Davis and Richmond buildings "in collaboration with and
the input of parents of students attending school in, and the staff serving in,
the Davis and Richmond buildings."

Default There's 2 sides to this story

Sounds like snooty parents didn't want THEIR kids to go to school with the minority kids, because that school didn't have test scores that were as good. I couldn't find Davis school in IIRC: Home but the district scores are very good.
Same thing happened here in our district 23. To save band, orchestra, art, sports and extra curricula programs, they switched to grade level schools from K-5 schools. Boy did the parents who were now sending their kids to a more diverse school howl!!
All sorts of lame excuses. And what was amusing was that the sub group scores of white students was almost identical between the 2 schools! The move also makes it easier to staff and provide higher level classes than having 2 separate k-5 schools. So in the end, grade level schools are now established and important and beneficial extras have remained.

Now, if this situation is dramatically different, I would gladly here from locals. But this does not sound like taking kids from an outstanding school and putting them in a mediocre school. It sounds like a logical, beneficial change to save $ and maintain programs. And this AYP complaint. Is it a school that performs far lower than Davis, or is it not making AYP because the high scores are stagnant and they are not improving to 100%? Our junior high is on AYP because scores went from average of 95% in '08 to 91% in '12. " OMG, OMG, our junior high now sucks" Take the scores and AYP status with a grain of salt!
