For a 24 year old female living alone are these areas okay to live? I grew up in an affluent suburban neighborhood in St. Louis and I have a problem feeling safe. I realize that they aren't terribly affluent areas. Are there certain parts of these suburbs that I should avoid? What about Milwaukee and Golf Rd? Is that a bad part?

Park Ridge is quite affluent, Des Plaines is solid middle class. Milwaukee and Golf is a shopping district. Wouldn't be worried about living in those places.

These suburbs are incredibely safe and DesPlaines has gotten quite affluent.
