I guess they don't know where the murder took place but the body was found in Glen Ellyn. And these are some of the safest and affluent suburbs in the area. No Bond For Homeless Man Charged With Murdering Wheaton Woman - Police & Fire - Glen Ellyn, IL Patch

Other than this incident, there has been exactly ONE murder in Glen Ellyn in the period that City-Data crime statistics cover (going back to 1999), so I don't think it's much to be concerned about. Both people (killer and victim) were homeless shelter regulars imported via DuPage PADS, and they had known each other for a while. Glen Ellyn residents are starting to grow wary of this program, and it's over-reliance on Glen Ellyn "interim housing" (i.e. cots in Church basements) in recent months. It will be interesting to see how it pans out and if there are any changes to the PADS schedule.

Each affluent suburb has a some number of homeless people and also some crappy apartments that are crime problems. These are very safe communities and while it is very sad and tragic it is not something to be worried about for the average citizen.
