Hi folks, I have searched a lot of options, but nothing seems to be helpful. I live in Lincolnshire, but my work is in Darien (southwest, right by interstate 55 and Kingery ). It is a two-hour commute round trip. I would like to take public transportation or van pool. I can drive to a bus station or train station. But I want the commute be no more than 1 hour and 30 minutes one way. Do you guys have any idea if this is possible? Thanks a lot !

In theory you might be able to talk a NCS train from Deerfield or MD-N line from Libertyville to Union Station and then take then the Pace 855 out along the Stevenson or maybe the BNSF to Westmont and then the Pace 715 but I doubt that would be less than two hours even if everything went perfectly.

What is your driving route that it takes 2 hours? Should only take 75-90 minutes in my estimation. I can make it from Arlington Heights to NW Indiana in 90 minutes during morning rush. Are you taking 294 to 55 to 83? If you're taking rte 83 the entire way, I can imagine that taking much longer. But 294 in the morning, especially south of Lake Cook Rd, is usually free flowing and opposite the rush hour flow. Way home, same, only 55 would be slow going. If i-55 is the real slow, might be able to suggest an alternate for that stretch.

I took it mean that the OP spends about an hour each way as they said their roundtrip is taking two hours...
A while back I worked in the Loop and some of the folks that lived in far southeast suburbs had a Pace van pool -- the guy who started it got five or so other coworkers and they got rotating use of a van that they would fuel up. I think Pace handled oil changes and insurance. They all lived within about 3-4 miles of each other and worked for the same firm I did. I gather that it helps to sort of have the ability to "network" with coworkers before hand and make sure that everyone is reliable / trustworthy because you can't have somebody that is a flake getting dressed in the van while they are running out of the house in a towel...

Thank you chet. I went to the website and registered my route, but the website doesn't have the next step to pair you up. Also I called PACE van pool, they are very very very bad at picking up calls or returning calls. It's like a dead program.
