Although Metra is planning a series of fare increases, there has been muted reaction. Metra. I predict sparse attendance at the public hearings. Granted, money is needed for capital spending, but one would expect more reaction.

I'll say I'm not exactly thrilled about it, but like most commuters, what other choice do I have? I wish they could get their performance back on track, it seems like the train is late nearly every day lately. They really need some new/better equipment, as well. It seems like mechanical delays are becoming more common.

A 68% increase seems excessive, especially if the CTA isn't increasing its fares while at the same time is remodeling stations left and right. But, as I said, what option do I have? Realistically, we have no choice.

hmm, didn't even hear about it until now. That's a pretty steep hike after the last hike they just had. I expect annual increases, this is just higher than expected.

They are planning to hike fares 11% next year and 68% over the next 10 years. Maybe it won't seem as bad as it sounds, but it sounds not great. That means my ticket will go from about $135 to $226.80. That's a big jump. If service became more frequent or reliable, then I could deal with it, but it seems to be going in the opposite direction lately.
