As someone with a lot of allergies, I was wondering what the Chicago area is like for allergies in general. My worst allergies are cigarette smoke, grass and weed pollen, and mold. Any information is greatly appreciated -- thanks!

We are originally from Chicago and currently live in Texas.

You will have seasonal outdoor allergies in the spring and fall.

In Texas you have year round allergies and one of my kids has been sick the entire time we have lived here!

Just wondering.. I posted this in both Chicago threads for a reason -- I wanted the reaction of both surburbanites and those who live downtown, as I am very curious how the surrounding urban environment makes a difference. Why was it deleted as a duplicate post -- it was not a duplicate! It was the same question for two different places... can someone please explain this? I just don't understand....

Allergies are caused by milk ! So forget the triggers and focus on the why....as long as you can deal with no dairy for 9 mos or so to purge it from your system. Read on allergies at notmilk.com . ANYWAYS, once you have purged, you can eat some cheese and icecream, at least I could but I totally stopped milk, went to rice milk for carb cravings on and off for a while.
But never went back to the pus and bacteria in milk, just dropped it like a bad habit that it was. good luck man.

In defense of the foil hat...giving up dairy got rid of my eczema and I believe made my allergies less severe...but unfortunately, no, it does not get rid of seasonal allergies. :-) My husband hardly does any dairy and he majorly suffers from allergies at times.

We just arrived here this summer and yes you will likely experience allergies. I'm expecting it not to be the allergy hell on earth that is Austin, TX though.

It is true that drinking cows milk isn't very good for you. I've not read up about the correlation with allergies but I'd imagine there isn't much truth to it. I'd like to see some double blind placebo studies.
