If underdog Roger Keats, Republican candidate, was praying for a miracle, he got it. He is probably (very privately) thanking Preckwinkle for just about handing him the election.

Crook County is in sad, sad shape. Too many corrupt politicians in office for too long. There's a reason why "Chicago-style politics" has a negative connotation, and it's not hard to figure out why. Just look at how Todd got his job in the first place.

I hope Roger Keats uses this to his advantage and that the voters actually PAY ATTENTION.

I know Ms. P on a personal level -- she is no crook. I don't always agree with some of her positions, but I know that she truly does want to do the right think for the largest numbers of residents, and to do that she knows she cannot move too hastily or recklessly.

I think she has proven that she can work with the entrenched powers as well as being a mostly "do gooder" on a personal / professional level.

If she says that the timeline on reducing the reliance on the sales tax is longer than she thought I will believe her until I see evidence that she is incorrect.

I really do not know much Roger Keats, but I do agree that this could be a rare window for him to prove himself to have a better way to make Cook Co more efficient...

Preckwinkle will still win. Mark my words. But if she doesn't roll back the last penny of the sales tax by 2012 as promised, she will lose the next time around.

Preckwinkle may be a lady of integrity, but her message does not resonate well with this suburban voter. Why isn't she: looking at reducing headcount? Stroger added head count, there should be room for cuts. Eliminate the commissions and special no bid contracts Stroger gave out. Eliminate Strogers friends and family from the payroll. Go talk to Maria Pappas about how to cut budgets while INCREASING services and stayin within a responsible budget.
Of course Preckwinkle is also a smart politician. If she talks about job cuts she will lose the votes of the county employees and their friends & families.
WAKE UP AND VOTE REPUBLICAN FOR COUNTY OFFICE! Stop the monopoly & Monopoly spending mentality.
Oh, and don't get me started on this Gianoulis clown. He reminds me of Blago.
