Looking to move to Chicago, in a couple of years, but setting things in motion now. I am a hair stylist, I am flying back and fourth to build up my clientile. Could some one give me some zip codes for downtown, for Townhomes, or condos, Safe Areas for a single woman. Thanks in advance.

We'd need a lot more information to help you than that. Do you imagine yourself in a high rise in a super dense area, or in a smaller building on a side street close to shops, bars and restaurants? How much do you think you'll be looking to spend? Will you be opening your own business?

If you can give us more details we should be able to help you out. Chicago is a lot different than Overland Park (in a very good way!)

Sorry... Yes I would like to be close to resturants, shopping etc, I won't be bringing my car, so I will be doing a lot of walking, el, I would like to work downtown and live pretty close to where I work. I like the brownstones or Townhomes with a deck, if possible. I am willing to spend 1,800-1,300

I would start getting to know the neighborhoods of Lakeview, Lincoln Park, Bucktown and Wicker Park. You can do a search of the forum to read some other threads about them, but you'll find they're the locations most often recommended to those new to the city.

Zip codes do not contain only one neighborhood or all of a neighborhood most of the time. You are better off looking by street address.

Don't you have access to Google?

Zip codes are too big to be a good way to look for properties because parts of 60647 might be very nice and other parts decidedly less so.
