I have just gotten my territory for work, and I am not quite sure where to live. I will be just west of the airport, looking for a studio or one, maybe two bedroom place depending on the price of the places. Can anyone suggest a good area, or maybe even more specifically a good apartment complex in the area? Thanks!

Thanks! I saw that on the map, but never heard of it before.

Any other suggestions?

What are you looking for in a neighborhood? Budget? Schools? Singles?

Nope, that's the only area I'm very familiar with up there...that being said, I'm not sure the far NW side neighborhoods are incredibly different. I think they call that area the 'Bungalow belt' and it is basically very similar in character, one block to the next--blocks of bungalows after blocks of bungalows. But like I said I am not suer familiar with it.

The MAX I am willing to spend is $1000 a month, and if I was paying that it must be a great place/location. Looking for a good place to live, good night life/bar scene. I'm 24 years old and single with no children, so the school thing is of no concern to me.

There aren't really apartment complexes in those areas. It's mostly small 3-4-5 story buildings. Your best bet is to drive the neighborhoods and look for "for rent" signs on the front lawns then take down phone numbers and call.

The far NW side isn't really known for its active nightlife because of the enormous amount downtown and on the north side, but you can still have fun up there. I would suggest Irving Park for your price range. It's close to the far NW side (practically the beginning of it) and it's close enough to downtown (quick L ride) and Bucktown (quick cab ride or L ride).

If you are not sold on Irving Park, go with Jefferson Park since there are a few bars along Higgins and Milwaukee just north of Irving Park.

This area will be a more mixed crowd age wise and a lot more neighborhood types who grew up in those neighborhoods versus Bucktown, Wicker Park, Downtown, Lincoln Park.
