I am still looking at a few places in Chicago, still out of town. Another Uptown apartment has jumped out, this time at Leland and Malden. What is the story with this part of the neighborhood?

Too close to the danger zone for my liking. Between Lawrence and Montrose, Beacon is probably as far as I'd (maybe) like to go.

As long as it's either north of argyle, south of montrose or west of broadway and the prices is right, i'd be cool with it. This place is a little close to the sunnyside mall for my liking but pretty much fine nothing will happen to you if you can avoid short changing dealers at 3 am.

Well, this spot is in fact south of argyle and north of montrose. It is, however, west of broadway. I understand that that is close to the Wilson/Broadway/Sheridan danger zone, but I wasn't sure if it was a sudden drop into crap right there, or if things steadily got worse around the area I was looking at.

west of broadway is better, that is a fine block, not sleepy but hardly anything too wild, a couple blocks west would be even better.

My friend lives on that block with his girlfriend, on Malden between Lawrence and Leland they like it. They haven't had anything happen and state they never feel unsafe. I've never noticed any more activity on that block than the average block elsewhere in the city.
