Fond memories indeed!

I love the city, and miss living in Chicago
My wife was on a flight from Phoenix last night and out of pure happenstance, she sat next to an older couple (now residing in Scottsdale AZ) who not only grew up in Humboldt Park, but on the very block we live on!
They regaled her with stories of their time here from the 60s to the 90s. It's great to run into people who can give us a look at the history of the neighborhood we now call home.

PS: You can actually check out a fishing pole from the Library next to the park, and the corner gas station/market sells bait, so fishing is alive and well in HP.

Is the armory still there? we used to go into the underground area and play around the trucks and equipment. Use to practice shifting gears on the big trucks, our father had a jeep stick shift too, but I'll bet we jammed more gears than he ever did it that jeep! LOL

and oh yeah, I remember those thorny honey locust trees, they were heck on a good football!
