Got a parking ticket for not moving car within 7 days even though it had actually only been 5.5 days. Was parked near midway and left car on city street. I know exactly when I parked because my flight was 5.5 days before ticket was issued. I have contested and included copy of plane ticket.

Odds I win? I give city 70% chance of doing the right thing.

I give it a 40% chance. The reasoning for rejecting? The plane reservation is circumstantial and not dispositive. This is one I'd have contested in person.

Keep us updated.

I agree with Drover; 40% sounds about right. Unfortunately, it seems to often be "guilty until proven innocent" with parking tickets, and a plane ticket isn't proof.

I would say that you have a somewhat greater than 50% chance of having the ticket dismissed. The airline ticket is not dispositive, but it does strongly suggest that you were only parked for five days (especially given that you don't live in the Midway area... I presume? And that should be apparent from the your address, if you included it). I had a single ticket dismissed a few years ago upon challenging it by mail - it would be interesting to see overall stats on dismissals relative to types of tickets (though unfortunately this information is probably not compiled and almost certainly won't be released).

I sorta doubt that there is gonna be ANY SYMPATHY WHATSOEVER from parking enforcement hearing officer if the OP tries to claim that the reason they should be allowed out of the ticket is because they are too darned CHEAP to park in a legitimate long term lot when they fly out of Midway. I can just about guarantee some poor working stiff saw the conniving cheapskate OP schlepping his carry-on luggage out the car and called the local alderman and/or police precinct to turn the cheat in. Folks on the SW hate their streets being used as parking lots and the city loosing revenue from the lots at the airport... If you can afford a car and plane ticket you can afford to put the car in a lot! Pay up.

^Yes, how dare he legally park on a public street that his tax dollars go towards maintaining. What a cheap bastard.

Sympathy is what you look for when you've been caught breaking the law. In this case he didn't break the law (he parked legally), and doesn't need sympathy. He needs accurate/just law enforcement. His frugality (which I would call smart more than cheap if not for the risk of inaccurate parking tickets) isn't a factor.

A better action would have been to submit to the court a simple "Motion to Dismiss the Action" because the statements in the ticket are defective( then you can use the plane ticket as your evidence ) then the judge has to look at the evidence you have submitted , other wise he can just ignore it and rule against you.
