This is kind of cool for Chicago.

yep, good stuff

chicago's restaurants are one of the best things about the city but there is a lot of progress to be made moving the national/global perception beyond crappy deep dish and hot dogs.

You beat me too it. Great news for Chicago. Agreed with Aleking - it's ridiculous how many people still think the city is just a bunch of hot dogs, pizza, italian beef, and gyros.

I'm disappointed that these awards aren't for the best beards around.

Nice, though it seems like half the chefs these days have a lot of facial hair.

In that case, they would've moved the awards show to Williamsburg.

Seems like rotating locations, say Chicago, New York, San Francisco and New Orleans would be a good mix and showcase different regions.

Good question, it's unclear from the article. It would be great to have it rotate through different cities

I don't think they know yet, but it seems to me that they want to try a rotation. I think those four would be good spots. Perhaps LA sometime - who knows. While I think New Orleans has awesome food, I think that the foodie-ism and variety in SF and Chicago would keep them as the top two choices after NYC. I think LA has more foodie-ism than NO too.
