Husband, and 11 yr old son and moi, dressed up- hit the city and had an afternoon cocktail at the Pump Room about 2, then went to a late lunch at RL,( Raplh Laurens restaraunt). Had a wonderful lunch, (gorgeous place,my new favorite and lunch menu far more reasonable$)),left about 5pm with the snow coming down, all the lites on and walked up and down Michigan ave. What a beautiful city! Drove home down Sheridan Rd through the north shore, heavy snow, just beautiful, and were home before 9. Rest of the nite at home, fire, Wii( I stink at guitar hero I am told) and some champagne to toast midnite in my great grandmothers glasses (one moutain dew served) Beautiful snowfall all nite -- what a great place to be over the holdiays. My sister called to brag about the weather in florida, no thanks,I'll take this instead. Happy New year.

I wonder if your sister calls in May, June, July or August to brag?

I spent time at home this New Years, playing table hockey and air hockey with my brother. Listened to a little Stray Cats while sippin some Stella Artois. Woot.

Your sister may call to brag about the weather in Florida, but the nation's #1 New Years travel destination isn't Orlando or Miami, it's Chicago.

The wife and I sat around and drank egg nog, thankful for our first day at home together after over a week of driving all over the Midwest to see family and friends.

For real? I would have thought it would be Vegas or NYC. Interesting.

Interesting ,I had no idea its number 1. It would make me nervous flying here with weather related delays and seeing the news stories every year with those cots at O'Hare.

marty9 posted about that here the other day, it's based on hotwire bookings. I'm kinda shocked as well.

I'm angry I had to bribe my maitre'd several hundred dollars just to keep my reservations for New Year's Eve dinner. Why the hell are there so many out-of-towners in the city?

Thanks for the link. Had to see it with my own eyes to believe it. I know its a popular city and all, but jeez. Vegas would have been my first guess, NYC 2nd, L.A. third, Chicago 4th.
